Bonnie Proudfoot of Embrun, Ontario, formerly of Station Rd, Alfred, passed away peacefully on Monday April 7th, 2025 in the presence of her family, after a courageous 23 months battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Devoted wife and best friend to Claude St-Denis for 45 years. Proud & much loving mother of Thomas (Na Yi) of Embrun and Amanda (Drew Martin) of Calgary, Alberta.  Cherished Grandmother of Xavier St.Denis.  Furball Grandma to Carl & Willow.  Bonnie will be missed by her cats Buddy, Bentley & Bella. Predeceased by her parents, William Proudfoot and Ruby Reid.  Dear sister of Hugh (Elizabeth), late Dwight (Sylvie Charette) and Ian (Ruth). She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.

Bonnie was a dedicated lifetime care giver to her family, to her parents & especially to her mother Ruby, in her final years.  In addition, she and Claude worked with Children in Care for 25 years.  Bonnie’s career was spent with the Federal Government in Edmonton, Dawson City and Ottawa.

She was an animal lover, a voracious reader & a nature lover.  She was a strong supporter of protecting and preserving the environment.  Bonnie enjoyed volunteering with Therapeutic Paws of Canada and visiting the local nursing homes.  Her cats Bentley & Bella (therapeutic cats) brought such joy to the residents. Bonnie’s husband, children, daughter-in-law, son-in-law and grandson were the greatest source of her happiness.

The family would like to thank Dre. Joanne Desjardin, Dr. Bazile and Dr. Christou & staff with the Hematology Section, Medical Day Unit and the Critical Care Unit at Ottawa General Hospital for their loving care.

Bonnie and her family are grateful to the Embrun IDA Pharmacy for their kindness and outstanding service.

In order to respect Bonnie’s last wishes, everything will be conducted in private.

Claude and family, I am saddened to learn of Bonnie’s passing. When I moved to Alfred she was the first one to make me feel welcome and I missed her when she moved. Such a kind and giving person, gone too soon.

    • Lynn (Campbell) MacGillivray Posted 2025-04-24 7:22 pm

My deepest sympathy to the St Dénis and Proudfoot families. Bonnie and I had a lot of fun together when we were young. I loved going to the Proudfoot home where I always felt welcome and where Bonnie and I could get into a little mischief.. We saw each other from time to time over the years and enjoyed catching up. During the pandemic we planned to get together for lunch once social outings were allowed again. Unfortunately it didn’t happen. She is gone too soon. I will cherish the memories I have of her.
      Thinking of all of you.

Claude, Thomas, Amanda and families, and Proudfoot families, I am so sad to hear of Bonnie’s passing. We are the same age, grew up together as friends with similar life experiences as 4-H members, dairy princess, active in the agricultural organizations, and many events around Vankleek Hill, and crossed paths often as career girls in downtown Ottawa, and occasionally in hospital waiting rooms while we were taking care of ourselves or family members. It was a joy to share our news, and family updates, and share a smile or two, a laugh, and hug. She loved you all so much … and was so proud of all of your accomplishments and the many joys in your lives together. She will be so missed by all of us who treasured her. May your happy memories sustain you during these difficult days and those ahead. Deepest sympathies to you all. Kim
