It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Helga Seyler, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, on Tuesday, November 14th, 2023, at the age of 87.
Helga (née Scheller), wife of the late Hans Seyler, leaves behind her children Margit (Holker Pfannebecker), Hans-Jakob (Maria Michel), Iris (Elmar Henrich), Christina (Shawn McNiven), Michaela (Andrew McKenzie) and Indra (Ralf Herpolsheimer), as well as her 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren (Maximilian, Konstantin, Christopher, Rafael, Niklas, Samuel, Ildiko, Konrad, Hamish, Willem, Jakob, Luna, Cosmo, Charlotte and Marlene).
Helga was the heart of our family. She was the thread that held us together. Mom had many passions and hobbies, but the garden was her pride and joy. Numerous hours went into perfecting her ideal garden. During spring and summer nearly every waking hour was spent bringing that vision to life. This garden was a gift to all who came to visit, including the birds and wildlife.
She nourished family and friends, not only by creating sensational meals and professional looking, delicious cakes, but also by nourishing our souls.
Helga was a proud, brave and hardworking individual, who started a new life in Canada when she was already 46 years of age. She worked full-time on the farm, while lovingly raising a big family. Helga was loyal to her very supportive and close group of friends, whom she cherished tremendously. Though never the loudest person in the room, she was the most present and left her mark. We will miss her always.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 23, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. Victor Church in Alfred. The family will be present at the church from 10 a.m. to receive condolences.

The family is touched by your condolences and thank you for your expression of sympathy.
We want to offer our sympathies to the Seyler family, especially to Indra, that we taught at St-Victor School in Alfred.
We can see that your mother enjoyed the good life, especially while taking care of all her loved ones.
She will probably sign up to care for God’s garden!
Be strong during these hard moments and remember all the good things she had done.
Andrée, Christiane and Louise Lavoie.
Our condolences to the family, we are so sorry for your loss
Our deepest sympathy to all the Seyler Families.

Liebe Seylers, liebe Indra,
My heart goes out to all of you for having to cope with the loss of both your parents and grandparents in one year.
I hope today will be a day where you can give each other strength to start saying to Helga. It’s the beginning of a process of having to learn to live without her.
She will greet you with every ray of sunshine that comes through the clouds and every bluejay that comes to visit.
Love, Eva
Helga, rest in peace

in Verbundenheit Elke Bertz (geb. Uhl) u mein Mann Wolfgang

Our Sincere condoleances for the loss of Mrs Seyler to all of her family. We remember their arrival in Alfred , Indra taking the bus to go to school with our children. We met occasionally through the years, always happy to have a good talk….when she talked about her chidren and grandchildren, her eyes shinned a little bit more.
