It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret ‘‘Peggy’’ Pflug, nee Schmuck, of Lefaivre, Ontario, on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the age of 90. Beloved wife of Robert Pflug. Dear daughter of the late Frederick Schmuck and the late Margaret Stumpf. Loving mother of Sandra (Peter Boorsma) and Karen (Dennis Gamble). Cherished grandmother of Heather, Gill, Katherine and Brendan. Also survived by her brother Frederick (Gloria Crouse) and many nieces, nephews and friends.  Predeceased by her sister Bernice (late John Steinmann) and one brother Roy ‘‘Joe’’ (late Shirely Mason).

Peggy was a very active person throughout her long life and assisted Bob into her final days with the task of living independently on a large wooded acreage. Tennis, swimming, and Nordic Skiing were among others pursued into her 80s. On the music scene, she sat for many years on the executive of the National Capital Opera society. Happiest times included her cherished family and many friends. Married in 56 she accompanied Bob to Barbados where their daughters were born and returned in 1965 to live in Ottawa. I’ll always remember Peggy’s warm smile and hearty chuckle. She always made me feel welcome in their Pineglen home during our many family gatherings and sleepovers with Karen. Then the exceptional eye are service when she and Bob opened Pflug Optical, and it also provided a great opportunity to catch up on family news. Kind, caring, upbeat… dear Peggy will be missed by so many. My heart goes out to her family during this sad time.

Our sincere condolences to Bob and the Pflug Family. We met Peggy for the first time at a Vankleek Hill & District Nature Society corn boil, hosted by our friends David and Michèle Stringer. She was a very sweet, friendly, and engaging person, and we very much enjoyed chatting with her. We crossed paths once again more recently at Michèle’s birthday party. Peggy was so interesting and full of life. She will be missed by many. May you find strength and comfort during this difficult time.

Peggy lit up every room she entered, She was gentle, kind, warm, funny, and generous. We had some great debates about the world back in the day and I was fortunate to meet up with her, Sandy, and Sandy’s daughter for dinner a few years back for a catch up. Later we stayed in touch via Facebook. A candle has been extinguished and she will be missed. My condolences to the Bob, Sandy, Karen and the entire extended family
