A Celebration of Richard’s Life will be held in the Lamarre & Son Funeral Home’s Chapel, Alfred, Ontario.
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Yelle of Rockland, Ontario, on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at the age of 72. Dear son of the late Henri Yelle and the late Marie-Berthe Cyr. Beloved brother of Denise (late Jacques Mainville) of Ottawa, Gaëtan (Holly Love) of Fort Covington, New York, Robert (Françoise Leduc) of Montreal, late Roger (late Ruth Greenwood) formerly of Lisbon, New York, Suzanne (Benoît Labre) of Rockland, late Diane formerly of Ottawa and Norman (Joanne Cardinal) of Rockland. Also survived by many nieces and nephews, André, Sylvain, Denis and Daniel Mainville, Sylvain Yelle and Sylvie Yelle, Carolyn Yelle-Gomes, Dr. Robert Yelle, Marianne West, Katharine Johnson, Ronald Yelle, Joanne Nigro, Dr. Katerina Yelle-Labre, Karine Yelle-Albinet and David Yelle. He was also a great-uncle to many. Richard also leaves behind a very special and long time friend from his years living in Rome, New York, Lenny Mattison of Parish, New York.
Richard had been combatting cancer for over a year now, and while we knew it would eventually take him at the end, we were hoping for much more time with him.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education from the State University of New York in Buffalo, New York in 1973. Richard was a life long educator, teaching languages in the Rome City School District, Rome, New York for over 35 years until he retired in 2007 and moved back to Canada.
All who know him, witness of his gentleness towards others, his easy smile and kind words for all, and his sense of humour.
He will be greatly missed, however, we are not as those who have no hope, as the Bible assures us we will meet again in the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
John 11:25-26 – NIV
“Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?””
A Celebration of Richard’s Life will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 2:30 p.m. in the Lamarre & Son Funeral Home’s Chapel, 453 St. Philippe Street, Alfred, Ontario, (613) 679-2802. The family would like to extend an invitation to family and friends to meet them at the funeral home before the Celebration from 1:30 p.m.

To Suzanne, Benoit, Family Members & Friends,
Muriel and I were deeply saddened by the news of your loving brother Richard’s passing. He was one of the most soft-spoken, kind and pleasant people we have ever known. It was always a pleasure speaking with him. I will forever remember Richard’s warm smile and the courage he demonstrated in the face of his challenging health issues. I never once heard Richard say a discouraging word. There is no doubt that our Heavenly Father has prepared a room for him (John 14: 2-3). Please know that you are being kept in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. God Bless
Ray & Muriel Lebeau
